May 7, 2012      Moccasin lake Nature Park

Dolly Cummings, a representative of the League of Environmental Educators in Florida (LEEF) leads an insightful audience participation activity that can assist in asking the right questions about the candidates and issues coming up on the 2012 ballot. Since the focus of LEEF is on awareness, communication, and growth about Florida’s natural environment, that makes for a very special voter resource.

Check list for bird steward volunteers to be stationed at Three Rooker Bar (Anclote Key State Preserve)

Three Rooker Bar is a barrier island located north of Honeymoon Island and is accessible only by boat. It is part of Anclote Key State Preserve and is managed by the Florida Park Service. Public education is key to program success and therefore professional conduct of volunteers on behalf of the Park Service is required.

Volunteers must be willing to “work” a 4-7 hour shift on the island. Each boat driver will set departure and return times and volunteers can sign up for shorter or longer shift durations on available dates. Shifts may be available, depending on boat transportation, on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday each week between May 1st-July 15th. Participants must be in good physical condition and be able to climb up and down a boat ladder. There are no restroom or other facilities on the island. All food, water, and sun protection are volunteer-provided.
